May – early July, September – early October

COOKING TIPS:
Use lettuce for a delicious decorative bed for another dish. Spice up a salad with fresh herbs or fruit. Try greening up an egg dish by adding lettuce to it. Toss with dressing just before serving to avoid a soggy salad.

STORAGE AND HANDLING:
Bagged lettuce should be refrigerated immediately and used within 1-2 weeks. Head lettuces should be washed and dried thoroughly before being stored in the fridge in a plastic bag.

NUTRITIONAL DETAILS:
Lettuces are a superb source of vitamin A and also provide a fair amount of folic acid. And with only 8 calories to a one cup serving you just can’t go wrong.
