Scandinavian cabbage soup

  • 2 cups cabbage, chopped
  • l cup onion, sliced
  • l cup celery slices
  • 1 cup peas
  • l cup thin sliced carrots
  • 2 cups creamed corn
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 1/2-3 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder or fresh garlic to taste
  • 1 1/2-2cps shredded cheddar cheese

Sauté cabbage, onions, celery, peas, and carrots in butter until tender, stirring frequently. Add milk and seasonings. Heat over low; add cheese, stirring until melted.
